The Concierge is back in town

The Concierge is back in town

It’s great to be back!

After almost 5 months of being in Germany visiting my family, I finally made it back to Coronado. It has been quite a journey and some of you have followed some of the adventures I had while gone. Here is a little review of my trip and what has happened since I Ieft.

In mid-June, my husband and I decided I would take the next flight out of Panama. We had already over 3 months of lockdown and no end in sight. I must admit, it was an eerie feeling, not exactly knowing when I could be back. My family was excited to have me stay with them for a while, I guess I didn’t mention to them for how long it would be 🙂

Family time in downtown Bielefeld, Germany

During that time Germany did very well with the pandemic, had very low numbers and life had been almost as usual. We had to wear a mask to enter a store or restaurant, the typical handshake or hug as a greeting we replaced with the new elbow-to-elbow salute or just an air-blown kiss.

Fresh out of quarantine my first agenda was to get a haircut. After 4 months of self-styling, it was more than overdue, that’s for sure. So, I stepped into the first place I saw, sat down, and at that point I understood the baffled look of the hairdresser. I was in a Turkish barbershop.. oh well, too late. In all fairness, he did a pretty good job.

Over the next weeks and months, there were a couple of trips, my cousin’s wedding, and many small gatherings with friends. And lots and lots of quality time with my mom and brother. After all, it has been 23 years that I have moved away from Germany. First to the US and now it has been almost 6 years here in Panama. So, if there is one good thing that came out of the pandemic, then it’s the special time I had with family and friends in Germany.

Since August I’m enrolled in a business coaching class and it has been quite a journey so far. Both, my husband and I have jumped into entrepreneurship when we got here, and we pretty much learned everything on the go. Now it is amazing how many things we have done right on our own, and how we can do even better with a few new tools and tricks we learned.

So, while Bill had to hold up the fortress here in Coronado (by far the tougher job) I was back in school again. And as you all already know, we launched our new business venture with our friend and now business partner Beth McGuyton. During the last months, we spent many hours with zoom meetings, created a really amazing website (PANACIFIC RELOCATION TOURS), and prepared for this exciting moment.

Team Panacific Relocation Tours, Thanksgiving Celebration

In mid-October, shortly after Panama opened the airport and borders it was time for me to make arrangements to come back to the beaches. My first try, unfortunately, had to be postponed. At the last minute before take-off, I caught a nasty cold and sinus infection. And neither are good to jump on a plane with, not even during regular times. But I finally made it 🙂

It was like leaving home to come home. And with those mixed emotions, I rediscovered what got us here in the first place. The warm welcome of the community, the beauty of the country, and the first steps back on the beach were just amazing.

We always say it’s an emotional decision when you come here and select this country to be your new home. I was reminded again and now I’m enjoying writing this blog while watching the little hummingbirds and butterflies chase through the yard.

With every event and tour, we want to make sure everybody is getting the same experience. Now we just added one more way to explore Panama and the Playa Coronado area for those that would like to discover the possibilities of relocation to Panama.

Lastly, as any start-up business, we would really appreciate your help. If you know someone interested in moving to this amazing area, and you feel you can recommend us, please do so. We can’t thank you enough for all your support, so far and for the future.

Yours truly,
Dorothee
