Seeing movies wherever you go is almost seamless due to online streaming services available. However, sometimes there is nothing better than going to a movie theater, getting tickets and popcorn, and watching a movie on the big screen. Luckily, seeing movies in Panama is relatively easy and inexpensive.
There are over seven movie theaters located in Panama. The closest movie theaters to Coronado are the Cinepolis on the second floor of the Westland Mall and the Cines Moderno in Penonome, located across from the Super 99. Most other movie theaters are in Panama City and can be found at various malls including Albrook, Altaplaza, the Multiplaza Pacific Mall, and the Metro Mall.
Two people can get tickets and a large popcorn with two drinks for less than $20. Seeing a movie in 3-D is usually not much more than seeing a movie in 2-D. VIP movie theaters, located at the Altaplaza, Soho, and Multiplaza malls are roughly double the price for a ticket and food. The VIP movie theaters offer leather reclining chairs, and a variety of food ranging from sandwiches to desserts. Alcohol purchases are also an option at the VIP movie theaters.

There are generally two options for seeing movies. The first one is to see it in English with Spanish subtitles. When looking at times, you will see “SUB” followed by the times. The second option is to see the dubbed over version which is all in Spanish. When looking at show times look for “DOB” followed by the show times. If you prefer to see movies that are with Spanish subtitles, it is best to see the movie within the opening weekend as subtitled versions tend to disappear the longer they are in the theater.
