14 Oct Finding Books in English Around Coronado
By Natalie Warner
Book worms unite! If you’re anything like me, then you know that sometimes there is nothing more enjoyable than diving into a good book. Unfortunately, my Spanish reading skills are not at a level where I can enjoy a book without pictures and large font. Luckily, there are options for places to get books in English without having to use the internet to purchase my next read.
One of the best known book resources in the Playa Coronado area is the library at Picasso. You can find a variety of genres. Most are in English. Volunteers spend a lot of time organizing the library; take care when searching for your next book!
Mail Boxes Etc. also has a book exchange area. Like Picassos, most books are in English. Live in a condo? Check out the social area. You may be able to find some books that are just asking to be read.
There are several stores in Coronado that have books in English as well. Arroacha in the Las Terrazas shopping center has a small book section. Most books are in Spanish. However, they do carry a few books in English. Riba Smith also has the occasional book in English. The Riba Smith in Costa Verde tends to a few more books. Machetazo has a book section on the third floor. Most books in English are more for children and early reader levels.
Although it requires a drive to Panama City, my favorite option is to visit Hombre de la Mancha. They have several locations, including in Cuidad de Saber, the Atlaplaza Mall, Multiplaza Mall, and two in Albrook Mall. Although I have not been to all of the locations, the three I have been to all have a fairly decent selection of English books. You can also find children’s books of various levels (cardboard up through young teen) in English.

Finding your next book to read does not have to involve the internet. Coronado and Panama City offer options for book enthusiasts. Although this list is not every location to find a book, it can act as a starting point.
